The One Design Factor Nobody Specifies For Here: Winter

Gumla sits high on the western Jharkhand plateau, and it gets genuinely cold. Winter minimums here fall far below what a dairy plant designed on national-average assumptions expects, and that has consequences most suppliers simply do not price in.

Cold ambient changes several things at once. Exposed pipework, water lines and instrument legs need freeze protection. Product viscosity rises, which affects pumping and heat transfer duty. Boiler and process heating load goes up in the very months when the milk flush is at its strongest, so the utility sizing that looks generous in a summer calculation can turn tight in January. And condensate and drain lines outdoors need attention they would never need in a coastal plant. We specify against the actual seasonal range of this plateau, not a single design ambient.

Plant Types We Are Most Often Asked For Here

Liquid Milk Plant — the base line, with utilities sized against the plateau’s real winter load. See our liquid milk plant scope →

Curd & Yogurt Plant — incubation control matters more in a cold-ambient district, and we design for it. See our curd and yogurt plant scope →

How We Work With Clients in the Gumla plateau

A single contract covers the Gumla plateau from process design to a running line, and the utility and pipework design is specified against the full seasonal temperature range of this plateau — including a winter that most plant designs quietly ignore.

Local context we carry: In Jharkhand we have executed NDDB dairy projects at Deoghar and at Sahibganj — both delivered end to end by our own teams — so this state is not new ground for our engineering, commissioning and dairy parts teams, and the terrain, milk economy and site conditions that Gumla works in are ones we have built in. Nationally, ATMAN Group has delivered dairy work across 21 states since 2008, and the same discipline in dairy machinery selection and dairy parts support carries into every Gumla project we take on.

Scope We Deliver on a Gumla Project

A Gumla project is taken as one engineering responsibility from concept to a running line — design through commissioning, with utilities, pipework and heating specified against the plateau’s full seasonal range rather than a single design ambient.

Process design and plant layout — mass balance, utility sizing and floor plan worked around your milk profile and the site you have.

Dairy machinery and dairy equipment supply — pasteurisers, homogenisers, silos, heat exchangers, CIP and flow components engineered and fabricated at our own works.

Dairy automation and electricals — PLC/SCADA, control panels and instrumentation built in-house, not bought in and bolted on.

Installation and commissioning — our own erection and commissioning teams travel to site and stay until the line runs to specification.

After-sales and dairy parts — spares, wear components and service support that continue long after handover, so the plant stays serviceable for its full life.

Dairy Equipment & Systems We Supply

Alongside complete plants we design, manufacture and commission the individual systems that go inside them. Every item below is supplied to Gumla as engineered, installed and commissioned equipment — not as loose parts — and can be ordered on its own or as part of a turnkey contract.

Discuss Your Gumla Project

Tell us the plant type and the capacity you have in mind and one of our engineers will come back to you with a scope and an indicative budget. Design, supply, installation, commissioning and after-sales sit under a single contract, so there is one team to hold answerable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you manufacture in Gumla?

Our manufacturing and engineering works are in Ahmedabad. We are not a local Gumla fabricator and do not claim to be. We execute dairy projects in Gumla as a service — design, supply, installation, commissioning and after-sales — with our engineers on your site for the full build.

Does winter really affect a dairy plant that much?

More than most people expect. Freeze protection on exposed lines, higher process heating load, changed product viscosity and outdoor drain behaviour all shift with a cold ambient. None of it is difficult to design for — but it has to be designed for, not discovered in the first January.

Does incubated product like curd need special attention here?

Yes. Incubation is a controlled-temperature process, and a cold ambient makes holding that temperature harder and more energy-hungry. We specify the incubation room insulation and heating for the local winter rather than assuming a warm plant hall.

What plant types do you build?

Liquid milk, paneer, cheese, mozzarella, curd and yogurt, ghee, butter, ice cream, milk powder, lassi and buttermilk, shrikhand, mawa and khoa, flavoured milk, whey processing and pouch milk packing plants.

Do you supply dairy machinery, dairy parts and dairy automation separately?

Yes. Apart from turnkey dairy plants we supply individual dairy machinery and dairy equipment, control panels and dairy automation systems, and we stock fast-moving dairy parts for units already running in Gumla.

What is your track record?

ATMAN Group has been engineering since 2008 and has delivered dairy work across 21 states. In Jharkhand itself we have executed NDDB dairy projects at Deoghar and at Sahibganj, delivered end to end by our own process, dairy automation and electrical teams, and the same discipline in dairy machinery selection and dairy parts support carries into every project we take on here.

Other Jharkhand Districts We Serve
