Where There Is No Flat Site, You Build on Levels
Mizoram is ridge country. Settlements sit along ridge lines rather than in valleys, the ground falls away steeply on both sides, and genuinely flat buildable land of the size a processing plant wants is close to unavailable. Levelling a slope to create a conventional footprint means earthwork and retaining structures that can cost more than the plant building itself, which is why so many projects here stall at the site stage.
The workable answer is to stop fighting the gradient and design for it. A plant laid out across two or three cut-and-fill terraces uses far less earthwork, and if the process sequence is arranged to run downhill the slope becomes an asset — gravity flow between stages instead of pumping. What it demands is careful attention to retaining design, surface water management on a steep site, and access grades that a loaded tanker can actually climb in the wet.
