Role purpose

Execute mechanical erection, stainless steel piping and commissioning of process equipment and skids to approved drawings, schedule, quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

Planning

  • Study GA drawings, P&IDs, piping isometrics and the scope before starting any job.
  • Plan manpower, materials, consumables, tools and equipment for each activity.
  • Prepare the daily work plan and assign targets to fitters, welders and helpers.

Execution

  • Supervise equipment placement, levelling and alignment.
  • Supervise SS304 / SS316L sanitary piping: cutting, fit-up, TIG welding, slopes, supports and drainability.
  • Check weld quality, heat tint and finish; maintain weld and inspection records.
  • Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams on interfaces.

Testing and handover

  • Carry out hydro / pressure testing, flushing and CIP readiness checks.
  • Run water trials and support product trials.
  • Close punch points and prepare handover and as-built records.

Safety and records

  • Enforce PPE, work permits and hot-work controls.
  • Submit daily progress and material consumption reports.
  • Reconcile materials and consumables at the end of each job.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in process plant erection, piping and commissioning.
  • Reading of P&IDs, GA drawings and isometrics.
  • Knowledge of SS sanitary piping, TIG welding quality and hydro testing.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Excel.

How performance is measured

  • Activities completed against the weekly plan.
  • Zero rework from piping or weld defects.
  • Zero safety incidents.
  • Daily reports submitted on time.
