Role purpose

Weld SS 304 / SS 316L sanitary pipes and tubes for dairy and food plants to hygienic standards.

Key responsibilities

Welding

  • TIG-weld SS 304 / SS 316L pipes, tubes, bends, tees and ferrules.
  • Use argon back-purging to get full penetration with minimum internal heat tint.
  • Tack and weld pipe joints in all positions, including 6G.
  • Operate orbital welding machines where provided.

Quality

  • Check joint preparation, squareness and fit-up before welding.
  • Inspect welds for penetration, colour and finish; correct defects.
  • Support pickling, passivation and hydro testing.
  • Record welds in the weld log as instructed.

Safety

  • Use PPE and follow hot-work rules.
  • Keep tools, torches and the work area in order.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of TIG welding on SS pipes.
  • Experience in sanitary / food-grade piping preferred.
  • Orbital welding experience an advantage.
  • Weld test at Sanand before selection.

How performance is measured

  • Welds passed without rework.
  • Joints completed per day against the plan.
  • Zero safety incidents.
