WHEY CONCENTRATION — UF / RO MEMBRANE
A whey concentration system using UF / RO membranes is where whey becomes a product — ultrafiltration fractionates and concentrates protein into whey protein concentrate (WPC), while reverse osmosis dewaters the stream ahead of drying. At ATMAN Group, we don’t just sell you the skid; we engineer it into a complete, balanced whey line and commission it on your floor. As a single-window turnkey dairy plant executor since 2008 — with AMUL-trained engineering leadership behind us — we size, supply, install and validate membrane concentration as part of the whole process, not as a standalone box.

What the System Does
Ultrafiltration (UF) retains and concentrates whey protein to target WPC levels while passing lactose and minerals; reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration dewater and partially demineralise the stream, cutting volume before evaporation. It governs three commercial outcomes: protein concentration and product grade (which set market value), volume reduction (which cuts drying energy), and consistent feed to the dryer (which protects powder quality).
Types We Engineer
- UF membrane skids (spiral-wound) — WPC concentration and fractionation.
- RO / nanofiltration systems — dewatering and partial demineralisation.
- Diafiltration stages — for higher-protein WPC grades.
- Automated, CIP-ready membrane plants with monitoring.
All contact parts and membranes are food-grade and sanitary, built to FSSAI and 3-A practice, with CIP-compatible design so cleaning is validated, not guessed.
Capacity & Output
We match membrane capacity to your whey volume and target WPC grade — from compact skids for regional plants to multi-stage systems for commercial whey processing. Sized in balance with your separation and drying stages so no stage becomes a bottleneck.
Where It Fits in Your Whey Line
ATMAN engineers the complete flow — clarification and fat recovery, UF/RO concentration, evaporation and spray drying — as one integrated, CIP-linked system with matched capacities and synchronized batch tracking, so protein grade and powder quality hold from feed to pack.
Why Buy from a Turnkey Executor, Not Just a Machine Supplier
- Grade-first engineering — UF/RO configured to your target WPC and throughput, not a generic spec sheet.
- Single-window accountability — design → supply → installation → commissioning → after-sales under one contract.
- Proven at scale — delivered within larger turnkey dairy projects for cooperative federations and NDDB-commissioned builds.
- Compliance-ready — FSSAI, BIS-rated electricals, food-grade materials, statutory audits pass first time.
- ISO 9001:2015 certified quality processes with documented, traceable specs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What WPC grades can you produce?
UF with diafiltration reaches common WPC protein grades; we configure the membrane train to your target.
Why concentrate before drying?
Membrane concentration removes water far more cheaply than the dryer, cutting energy cost per kg of powder.
Can you integrate with our existing whey line?
Yes. We balance the membrane stage to your separation output and dryer capacity.
